Live from Baselworld 2016: Highlights from 5 luxury watch brands

The Peak selects our favourite new luxury watches from Rolex, Tudor, H. Moser, Bremont and Zenith as the world’s biggest watch fair kicks off.

1) ROLEX COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA

Miss the black bezel on the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona of 1965? Then rejoice at its return in a shinier, sturdier form thanks to an upgrade to Cerachrom. Rolex’s proprietary monobloc bezel is lauded for its extreme hardness, legibility of the numerals and, above all, unfadingly rich colour.

2) TUDOR HERITAGE BLACK BAY DARK

Since it released its very first in-house movement last year, Tudor fans can expect more of their favourite collections to come with updated movements. This year it’s the Tudor Heritage Black Bay Dark, featuring a black PVD-coated steel case and a new COSC-certified calibre with a 70-hour power reserve.

3) H. MOSER PIONEER PEREPTUAL

One of the most elegant perpetual calendar watches out there is dressing down for everyday wear. H. Moser has released the Pioneer Perpetual, which takes the same beloved calibre of the Perpetual 1 and puts it in a larger 42.8mm case with a more rugged dial design and 120m water resistance.

4) ZENITH HERITAGE PILOT CAFE RACER

Zenith’s new watch borrows its name from the lightweight motorcycles built for short-distance speed. The watch pays homage to the cafe racer movement of the 1920s with an equally no-frills vintage design using the Pilot DNA as a base – oversized fluted crown, beige luminescent hands and large Arabic numerals on a grey grained dial.

5) BREMONT BOEING 100

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Boeing, Bremont has partnered with the aerospace company to create the the Boeing 100 GMT chronograph. Limited to 300 pieces, the self-winding titanium watch is decorated in “Boeing Brown”, a colour once used in the cockpits of older Boeing aircrafts.
