Dover Park Hospice’s annual Sunflower Gala Ball

Dover Park Hospice (DPH) has recently raised $1.2 million from its annual Sunflower Gala Ball. The event, which took place on Aug 12 at the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore, was graced by guest-of-honour President Halimah Yacob.

A silent auction, held throughout the evening, showcased jewellery and paintings by local artists, as well as fine wines and cognac. A bespoke green yellow diamond ring, with a total diamond weight of 10 Carat, was auctioned off at $25,000.00.

Guests savoured a four-course dinner crafted by the resident chefs in Shangri-La Hotel Singapore and were treated to performances which included a number by the Dover Park Hospice GEMS Show Choir made up of DPH volunteers.

Addressing the 500-strong crowd at the gala, DPH’s newly elected governing council chairman, Robert Chew, said: “We treasure life even in one’s last days. We serve with compassion, alleviating suffering and maximising quality of life for the terminally ill and their loved ones.”

DPH was established in 1992 as a non-profit organisation to provide palliative care services for terminally-ill patients.
