On 5 July, guests of Remy Martin from across Southeast Asia gathered in the Flower Field Hall at Gardens By The Bay to witness the unveiling of an enigmatic safe harbouring a clay record of Pharrell Williams’ composition 100 Years – The Song We’ll Only Hear If We Care. The tune, commissioned by French luxury cognac maker Louis XIII, was written to rally awareness for climate change and will only be premiered a century later in 2117 – assuming that planet earth is still fit for human habitation. The elegant event, officiated by Louis XIII global executive director Ludovic du Plessis, saw guests dining on a four-course dinner by Shangri-La Hotel Singapore before rounding off the evening with what else but rare glasses of Louis XIII cognac.
