More than 400 of society’s who’s-who, including guest-of-honour, Minister Ong Ye Kung, came together on Saturday night for Singapore Symphony Orchestra’s (SSO’s) annual benefit. Chairlady of SSO’s ladies’ league and fundraiser-in-chief Odile Benjamin delivered on her promise to garner $1.1 million for SSO’s music outreach programmes and performances.

Under the baton of Joshua Tan, music from the symphony resounded from the ballroom of the Ritz-Carlton Millenia. Transylvanian bass-baritone Zoltan Nagy and Korean mezzo-soprano Seia Lee gave voice to the night’s theme of Fiesta Latina! by performing evergreen songs Quizas, Quizas, Quizas and Besame Mucho, respectively, along with other arias.

Opera fans can catch Nagy perform in La Bohème, featuring an international and Singaporean cast alongside the SSO, this Friday and Saturday, April 26 and 27, at the Esplanade Concert Hall.
