5 new luxury watches that bring a pop of colour to match your outfit
Brilliant pops of colour give elegant timepieces a cheerful edge - because serious watches don’t have to look sombre.
It might fall between black and white, but there’s nothing ambiguous about the fact that the medium-grey dial of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding 37mm stands out with its cool tone and texture. A more casual take on a modern classic, the pink gold timepiece features the brand’s Grande Tapisserie engraved dial pattern and is powered by an in-house automatic movement.
Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Altiplano family this year, Piaget has updated this line of ultra-thin watches with several new models boasting vibrantly hued faces. Taking inspiration from the first Piaget ultra-thin watch, the Altiplano Self-Winding 43mm in white gold is distinguished by accents such as a historical logo, a central cross and applied gold hour markers – and of course, a dial in a handsome shade of midnight blue.
Making the most of the capabilities of its dial-making facilities in Germany, Glashutte Original has created the Sixties Iconic Square collection – which features dials with a striking graduated finish, as seen on the Sixties Iconic Fire shown here. Each dial is given a galvanic base coat, before layers of coloured lacquer are added gradually by hand, and then fired in an oven. This automatic steel watch measures 41.35mm by 41.35mm.
This year, independent brand H. Moser makes a statement by saying nothing at all. The Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept Cosmic Green is devoid of markings – it has done away with the brand’s logo, indexes and the “Swiss Made” label. Good thing, then, that H. Moser’s graduated colour-fume dials have become an easily recognisable signature of the brand. And with its dial rendered in a vivid shade of emerald, this 40.8mm rose gold watch is impossible to miss.
THE STONE AGE
Having launched its Atelier Reverso customisation service last year, Jaeger-LeCoultre now introduces more fresh dial options for men. Crafted from the amber-coloured gemstone tiger’s eye, this dial is one of six new options that can be chosen for the watch face on the reverse of the Reverso Classic Duo Small Second, which comes in Medium and Large sizes.
