BOSS Responsible Tailoring

Sustainability might be the buzzword for the new decade, but it’s a movement that The Peak is strongly for. And we’re happy to note that many luxury brands have also included sustainability as one of their key objectives. For spring/summer 2020, BOSS is also reiterating its commitment to the environment by expanding its Responsible Tailoring collection to include additional womenswear pieces. More interestingly, the brand has launched a fully vegan suit.

The suit is available in three colours – light beige, dark blue and black – and is crafted in Germany from pure certified organic European grown linen. BOSS has sourced vegan alternatives to traditional components such as wool or horsehair. In the event that the brand couldn’t find any, it fully omitted the material.

For those who still prefer the traditional suit, take heart that one of the key components of the Responsible Tailoring collection is traceable wool. The brand supervises and tracks the wool production process from farm to final garment. The wool is derived from New Zealand sheep that are raised by farmers who adhere to the highest animal welfare standards. The yarn itself is spun, dyed and fabric woven in Italy. The brand also ensures that the labour conditions and workmanship standards of the staff working on its clothes in the Responsible Tailoring range are impeccable.

In a nod to the rising mercury, BOSS paired the lightweight Responsible Tailoring suit with a drawstring pant that has cuffed hems. As office dress codes become more casual, the suit will continue to evolve and BOSS has showcased what it believes to be the future of suiting. We can see ourselves wearing it.
