Shining example
Inspired by ikat, a traditional Indonesian dyeing and weaving technique to pattern textiles, the Slim d’Hermes Cheval Ikat exemplifies the French luxury maison’s expertise in aesthetic watchmaking. The exquisite prancing horse motif on the dial is embroidered with 1,165 threads – each three times thinner than a strand of human hair—that are secured on the dial at two points with of 24K gold, which lends the dial a metallic patina. Powered by an ultra-thin automatic movement, the 39.5mm Cheval Ikat comes in rose gold or white gold, and each is limited to 36 pieces.
Driving force
Leaving his mark on haute horology, six-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton has partnered IWC to create a bodacious Bordeaux-red version of his favourite timepiece – the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition. Limited to 100 pieces, the striking 46.5mm wristwatch reflects the British racing ace’s aesthetic preferences. Its movement also features a rotor engraved with Hamilton’s name and personal “winged” logo. The automatic watch with pink gold accents comes in a black ceramic case with a transparent caseback and a textile strap.
Midas touch
The golden touch has been bestowed upon the new Panerai Luminor Due 42mm with its slim case, bezel, crown-protecting bridge and strap buckle made from the Italian manufacture’s patented Goldtech alloy consisting of 18-carat gold, copper and platinum. The new Due comes in two variations: a black sandwich dial with a glossy finish (PAM1041), and a white dial (PAM1042). Beating within both models is the automatic P.900 calibre movement with three days of power reserve.
