Roger Dubuis unveils limited run of eight Excalibur Aventador S Green timepieces at Geneva Motor Show 2018

The twin virtues found at the pinnacle of carmaking and haute horlogerie have culminated in this collaborative timepiece with RD's newfound auto partner, Lamborghini Squadra Corse.

When two high-octane brands such as Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini Squadra Corse (Lambo’s motorsport division) combine their creative forces for good, you get a technical masterpiece like the Excalibur Aventador S.

Cast from light carbon-fibre and inspired by the engine block of the Aventador, the 45mm timepieces parade a slew of technical innovations that warrant their own patent protections. Two of these concern the implementation of dual balance wheels (convention: one) and consequently obtaining more accurate time. The remaining three patent filings stem from applying principles of supercar construction to help the watches shed weight and make tremendous gains in efficiency; an entire gear-train, for example, was dropped from the already light construction of the Excalibur Aventador S.

As a nod to the exclusivity of the timepieces, the watches come with an exceedingly rare complication that only true watch cognoscenti will identify and tip their hats to: the deadbeat seconds display, which intentionally regulates the ticking of the second hand in a mechanical watch to once per second, a la a quartz piece.

A limited 8-piece run of the Excalibur Aventador S in a sizzling new color variant, Green, was just unveiled at the recently-concluded Geneva Motor Show. The bi-material strap with green trim pairs nicely with the green rubber overmolds that line the crown and case, as well as with the markings on the bezel.
