Rubies and diamonds for a special edition of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Dazzling Rendez-Vous

The limited-edition timepiece from Jaeger-LeCoultre has been created to celebrate this year's Shanghai International Film Festival.

To celebrate the 22nd Shanghai International Film Festival , Swiss watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre is releasing a ruby and diamond encrusted Red Edition of its Dazzling Rendez-Vous creation, showcasing the full expertise of its artisans.

The Dazzling Rendez-Vous Red, which celebrates the Shanghai International Film Festival (taking place from June 15 to 24), sets itself apart with its red alligator leather bracelet and the 36 rubies that encircle its case. Not only do the precious stones symbolize passion and energy, they pay tribute to the precision and craftsmanship of the manufacture’s artisans, who let every ruby shine by opting for the “prong setting,” wherein each stone is set to its own tiny gold spike. A labor of love requiring hours of work.

The 36 mm-diameter case houses a white mother-of-pearl and silver watch face representing a moon crescent. Rubies and rose-gold floral numerals are encircled by two bands of diamonds — a 72-diamond circle around the bezel and a 47-diamond ring along the dial — while 12 diamonds decorate the lugs. The cabochon is decorated with a single diamond.

The Night & Day display, a Jaeger-LeCoultre signature, shows a sun chasing a golden crescent moon, visible through an opening at 6 o’clock.

Jaeger-LeCoultre “Dazzling Rendez-Vous Red” is powered by a Calibre 898B/1 self-winding mechanical movement with a 38-hour power reserve, and a watch face showing hours, minutes, and a Night & Day display.

Only eight of the limited-edition timepiece are available, exclusively from Jaeger-LeCoultre boutiques.
