[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he Axis Bar and Lounge at Mandarin Oriental has launched a Japanese-inspired afternoon tea menu for May. ­The set features treats such as the green tea azuki (red bean) choux pastry, lobster chawanmushi (steamed egg) with gingko nut, takoyaki (octopus balls) with sakura zuke (pink pickles) and yuzu meringue sable tart.

The menu is paired with a selection of teas from Singaporean tea company TWG, with blends including emperor sencha (green tea from Japan), royal orchid (night blooming orchid Formosa) and harmutty (assam from India). A tea jelly made from TWG’s special Mandarin Oriental blend is also included.
