Jigger & Pony's anniversary cocktail

Fresh from celebrating its 8th anniversary, Singaporean craft cocktail pioneer Jigger & Pony has been announced as the top bar on the Asia’s 50 Best Bars list. In celebration of these twin joyous occasions, the bar has created two — one for each win —  limited-edition bottled cocktails that are available for delivery and takeaway.

While the adorable bottle labels are the work of local artist Shanlyn C, the drinks are the result of a collaborative effort, having been born of the combined ideas from the different teams  across the Jigger & Pony Group — whose concepts include the Japanese mid-century modern inspired Live Twice and Italian restaurant & bar Caffe Fernet. The result is two spirit-forward tipples, both deceptively simple-sounding, but offering layers of complexity and flavour.

Worker Bees Build the Hive, which comes lined with beeswax on the inside.

In celebration of the group’s 8th anniversary, there’s the Worker Bees Build the Hive cocktail — created to “pay tribute to all the hardworking ponies in [the] group”. Havana Club 7 year old rum meets aromatic jasmine liqueur and deep, rich Okinawan sugar. All this is stored in a bottle lined with beeswax — which, in a process similar to fat washing, imparts a velvety texture and subtle floral note to the cocktail.

The other bottled cocktail, which commemorates Jigger & Pony’s no. 1 spot on Asia’s 50 Best Bars, has been christened The Tree Does Not Grow Straight, inspired by the Japanese Mizunara oak tree that’s highly prized, but hard to work with due it winds upwards then growing. Expect a heady blend of Monkey 47 gin aged in Mizunara oak (which is usually used to impart coconut and sandalwood flavours to whisky), Cocchi Americano, Peychaud’s, and Merlet creme de cassis. Both cocktails are best drunk on the rocks — we suggest getting one of those gorgeous clear cut ice cubes that they usually use at the bar.

“This win is both an honour and a responsibility to represent our team, our city, and our industry across Asia in this time of crisis – and as we navigate the path to recovery,” says Indra Kantono, co-founder of the Jigger & Pony Group.

Both celebration cocktails can be ordered here.
