Some days, you just want to lounge around in your PJs catching up on the latest serials. Have a couple of friends over, with tipples aplenty since you don’t have to worry about driving home after.
Thanks to food delivery, it’s getting easier to stay home and eat great food without having to bother with cooking and cleaning. But some restaurants go the extra mile to provide dining experiences in the comfort of your domicile.
These restaurants deliver veritable feasts of warm, homely food. Perfect for a laid-back gathering with great grub and even better company – no silverware or high heels necessary.
Park Bench Deli
Sandwich artisans Park Bench Deli is a CBD mainstay that have been putting out scrumptious American-deli-inspired grub since 2015. Their pastrami Rueben is a time-tested sandwich that combines beef brisket pastrami, tangy coleslaw and hot mustard with swiss cheese on toasted rye. Otherwise, their crispy hot chicken sandwich is straight out of Nashville, Tennessee. It features fried chicken thigh slathered in hot sauce, tex mex slaw and chili mayo. Very few things get more relaxed than a sandwich (unless you eat yours with a knife and fork), so this is perfect if lounging on the pool is at the only item on the agenda this weekend. Give around 90 minutes for prep and delivery.

Meatsmith
The full metal smokehouse is all about American barbecue. Think 14-hour smoked brisket covered in a salt-and-pepper dry rub and slathered with house made barbecue sauce; succulent pork belly burnt ends dusted with chili powder; and classic sides like cornbread and slaw. On short notice, delivery is an option through Deliveroo: but if you’re looking for a private BBQ where you don’t have to man the grill (and come out smelling like charcoal), Meatsmith offers a private chef complete with proprietary Southern smoker churning out platters of succulent smoked meats and even whole hog if you’re up for it. For catering, provide at least 4-5 days’ notice while give at least a week if you plan to have a private grillmaster over (email events@meatsmith.com.sg to enquire).
The Boiler
The Boiler stands out among the crowd of Cajun-style seafood in a bag concepts that have sprung up recently with its fresh, premium ingredients and convivial atmosphere. The concept is simple: Dungeness crab, prawns, mussels and clams are mixed with Cajun sausage and corn in a spicy broth laced with a secret blend of 11 spices. You can choose the spice level to ensure that it’s just about spicy enough that you won’t feel guilty cracking open a few cold ones throughout the meal. The Boiler boasts an unfussy mix of IPAs and ales for a communal feast that’s perfect on the terrace where cutlery is forbidden and napkins are just a suggestion.

Hai Di Lao
Well-known for going the distance in customer service, the Sichuan-born hotpot giant first expanded into Singapore (its maiden overseas expansion) in 2012. Manicures, massage chairs and tableside entertainment a la noodle dance complement its medley of heartwarming soup bases and premium hotpot ingredients. But it also boasts famously long queues – which you can now beat with Hi Delivery, Hai Di Lao’s delivery service that includes the cooker and pot, a selection of hotpot must-haves like their signature mashed shrimp paste, Boston baby lobster and US Wagyu and clean-up service so you won’t have to contend with any post-hotpot mess. You can even get a selection of spirits and alcohol (including Hai Di Lao’s brand of beer). And if you think the noodle dance is an integral part of the hotpot experience, you can even get service personnel down with the delivery. Order a day early to ensure your hotpot party begins on time.
