We don’t really have much options for entertainment now. Travelling, bars and most entertainment is out. We’re here to make a case for staycations at one of Singapore’s choice boutique and luxury hotels.
According to reporting by the Straits Times, hotel occupancy has dropped to roughly 30 to 60 per cent since the start of March – and this is before short-term foreign visitors were barred from entering on Mar 22.
In response, hotels have asked staff to clear annual leave, while shutting off floors to cut costs. In short, things aren’t looking too good for the hospitality industry in Singapore.

There’s one shining beacon of hope though: Singaporeans love staycations. We average 2.4 staycations a year, just slightly less than the three personal overseas flights in a year, according to Expedia’s 2018 Singapore Staycation study.

More travel doesn’t mean unnecessary indulgence amid the current COVID-19 crisis: by practising social responsibility and basic sanitation, we can support the local hospitality industry and its staff.

If you’re looking for something for romantic, a staycation at the Outpost Hotel Sentosa is the perfect getaway – if only because the hilltop hideaway doesn’t admit children under 12 (get a babysitter for the weekend, they’ll survive). In the meantime, enjoy activities like floral arrangement, art jamming and a terrarium-making workshop while enjoying the tranquil serenity (and not only because you’re on Sentosa).
