Art Stage Singapore Returns For Its Sixth Run

The flagship art fair is back, with an inaugural forum with a focus on Southeast Asia, and many old fair favourites.

The sixth edition of Art Stage Singapore will run from this Thursday (21 Jan) to Sunday (24 Jan), bringing over 170 galleries from over 30 countries to Southeast Asia’s flagship art fair once again.

Of note this year is the inaugural Southeast Asia Forum, descended from the successful Southeast Asia Platform (from the past two years). The series of talks, featuring high-profile personalities in the arts scene, and its related exhibition, has been themed Seismograph: Sensing the City – Art in the Urban Age. The forum discusses the issues that plague cities across the face of the changing globe, and identifies art as a valuable outlet of the “urban DNA”.

The popular Video Stage is testament to the changing perception of video as a expressive medium, and it will make its return as well, featuring both contemporary and classic works dating as early as 1987.
