Contemporary penthouse
The steel-and-plywood bookshelf is the visual focal point of this apartment in Upper Bukit Timah, designed by Mark Yong of PIU Design. The kitchen boasts an open-concept space, including an island that abuts the dining table. Softer shades of green are used in the bedroom to evoke tranquillity, and the graphic lines of the window frames are repeated in the steel mezzanine that provide access to the upper levels of the wardrobe.
Luxurious Sentosa Cove penthouse
This penthouse overlooks the panoramic view of the ocean skyline and yachts docked below. Designed by celebrity designer Peter Tay, its roof is particularly decorated for homeowners Finian Tan and Fiona Goh to entertain guests. A shimmering onyx marble bar takes centre stage, fronting a fully equipped kitchen. Statuario marble is used for a feature wall, on which an 80-inch television is mounted. The dry kitchen has a bar counter made of green-veined Breccia Verde Carrara marble. A 1.2m deep pool greets guests at the entrance to the rooftop of the penthouse, and decorating the stairwell is artwork, mostly from Moroccan painter Mahi Binebine.
Semi-detached house with open-concept attic
Two storeys, an attic and a swimming pool make up this semi-detached house on Dunbar Walk. Designer Sarah Tham of Cube Associate Design keeps the neutral colour palette is constant throughout the home, allowing furniture and furnishings chosen to stand out. The use of large slabs of Palissandro grey marble reinforces the feeling of openness, while the alignment of the marble grain along the length of the home accentuates the spatial linearity. A spiral staircase leads directly to the library-cum-study in the attic, marrying form and function. It also acts as a vertical circulation element which establishes a physical connection between the two levels.
Industrial-style terrace house
Located in Thomson, and designed by Ed Ong of Dwell, this house makes use of raw elements like solid wood and metal, giving it a distinct industrial feel. The walls on the first floor, as well as the stairwell and staircase, are enhanced with concrete screed. Matte grey tiles from Hafary have a concrete-like feel underfoot, adding to the sensorial experience. Homeowners Daphne Chua and her partner had the flooring of the backyard clad in metal sheets to complement the industrial aesthetic of the home.
Multi-generational bungalow
Designed by Teo Yee Chin from Red Bean Architects, this bungalow overlooks the neighbouring roof scape as well as the lush greenery on Mount Pleasant, Thomson. Its living room sits within a dramatic cantilevered cube, and the space-age dining room proves to be an conversation-sparking focal point, with sleek white surfaces creating a clean look. Perforated cream limestone contrasts with a protruding cube of teak, and weathered steel trims have been naturally rusted into a burnished copper, accentuating the wood.
Four-storey cluster townhouse
A courtyard with streamlined furniture gives the family a quiet spot to lounge in, in this Bukit Timah townhouse. The roomy kitchen by Mudian is fitted with Technistone quartz countertops and appliances from Bosch and De Dietrich. Paying homage to Singapore’s heritage, Collective Designs constructed a wall out of ventilation blocks. The bricks are a focal point and partition while allowing air and light through. Monochromatic art such as calligraphy on the walls is in keeping with the black and white palette.
Modern semi-detached house
Designed by Adrian Heng of Ottimo Spazi, this three-storey semi-detached house is made to have spaces unique to each individual, while still maintaining a unified look of stately elegance. The house has a luxurious modern classic, hotel-inspired look to it, tastefully furnished with an assortment of bespoke furniture. Neutral shades of cream, beige, and stark black makes up the colour palette. Opulent textures in the furniture upholstery further adds to the hotel suite aesthetic.
Stylishly luxurious duplex apartment
This luxurious duplex apartment in Corals at Keppel Bay is a home that many would dream of living in.
Designed by 0932 Design Consultants, the interiors showcase clean architectural lines, clever use of space, sleek silhouettes and designer furniture pieces. The living room is a double volume curvilinear space with white day curtains that lend a cosy ambience. The neutral colour palette mostly comprises black, white and beige. Contrasting materiality treatment on linear planes such as in the dry kitchen, where a wood clad base is complemented with a marble-look countertop, helps add tactility in the home.
Brutalist house
Aesthetic marries function in this light-filled three-storey home in Upper Thomson, designed by Kelvin Bing of Renaissance Planners and Designers. The house, owned by homeowners Dr Jeffrey Loh and his wife Joyce, has six bedrooms and six bathrooms, spreading throughout the residence. Its distinguishing feature is an asymmetrical concrete “cap” that juts out over the two lower floors – a tribute to the Brutalist style. Water features in the living area and outdoors along the side of the house provide a therapeutic effect and the sliding glass doors on the ground floor help give the narrow living and dining space a sense of openness.
Neutral palette penthouse
This penthouse apartment, designed by Syed Agil Albahar of White Space living, boasts an elongated living area, with floor-to-ceiling glass walls. A neutral palette of greys is carried through the space, and each room is decorated with uniquely customised furnishings. The brightness of the living area gives way to dark drama created with the use of recessed lighting. A dark tunnel made with wall coverings and dark-stained doors lead to the bedrooms.
Contemporary-style penthouse
Kelvin Bing of Renaissance Planners & Designers created the illusion of extra space with an open-concept kitchen, allowing for interaction with guests while entertaining. Master suites of this modern penthouse have a slightly darker palette, creating a cosy ambience. A reading corner in the room heightens the relaxing mood. Dark travertine walls, together with a sunken bath, gives it a cave-like, cocooning quality that is conducive for unwinding after a long day.
Elegant industrial-style condo
Designed by Leslie Seow of Ensemble, this loft-style condo in Katong Gardens is decorated to be a tasteful place for homeowners Kevin and his wife to entertain their guests. LED mood lights emphasise the raw brick walls., and complementing it is the 2.4m-long Diamond dining table by Patricia Urquiola with bevelled edges and a Sahara Noir marble top. The space has an industrial-style palette with black ceilings, brick walls and engineered ash flooring. Luxurious materials deck the kitchen, such as granite countertops and brushed aluminium fittings, as well as fine Italian furniture, creates a refined and inviting ambience.
Classy beach bungalow
This two-and-a-half storey bungalow at Sentosa Cove is a luxurious home designed for entertaining by Altered Interior. The facade features a mix of marine-treated timber, painted concrete, glass and slate, leading indoors into a black, white and chocolate brown palette. The sleek white marble-floored interiors are softened with warm accents, such as a feature wall clad in cocoa-coloured wood veneer. The earthy colour brings out the rich hues of the chocolate brown sofas, dining chairs and dining table. The rooftop lap pool is bounded by tempered glass panels for an infinity-style finish.
Sophisticated six-bedroom condo
For this elegant six-bedroom condominium apartment, Thomas Tham, the principal designer of White Corporate, hand-picked exquisite materials to design a home which exudes sophistication and luxury. The Moooi Heracleum lamp showcase petals branch out of slim rose gold twigs, bathing the space in soft illumination.
In the master bedroom, the headboard and some walls are clad in an earthy, dual-tone fabric, studded with Swarovski crystals.
Luxurious apartment
All-white three-storey penthouse
The English-Persian interior designer Karina Zabihi elected to keep her own home all-white, punctuated by statement furniture pieces and art. The timber floorboards of the balcony are painted white, making it seem more like an extension to the living space. Playing with scale, two larger-than-life vases dominate the minimalist master bedroom.
Structural triplex penthouse
Taking inspiration from the views, the designers from SuMisura chose a neutral ivory base palette with different shades of blue and lavender, to marry the interior and the exterior views of this triplex penthouse in One Shenton. Structural columns responsible for supporting the triplex were cleverly treated to bring specific furniture settings into focus.
