The Tesla of our generation has had far from a smooth-sailing life.

HE'S ACTUALLY RELATED TO IRON MAN

Of course, we use that term loosely. If Tony Stark reminded you of someone in real life, you're probably thinking of Elon Musk - and you're onto something. Jon Favreau, director of the first two movies (the good ones), was initially unsure about how he could bring the charismatic character of tech tycoon Tony Stark to life. The film's lead actor, Robert Downey Jr, then recommended a face-to-face chat with Musk.

"Downey was right,” Favreau said in TIME. “Elon is a paragon of enthusiasm, good humor and curiosity – a Renaissance man in an era that needs them.”

And pictured here is the Space X facility, where parts of the movies were actually shot.
